Those 50 and over who were once eligible for a 15% discount on the first Tuesday of the month at Rona and Réno-Dépôt stores will be dismayed to find out that the honchos at Lowes Head office (owners of both chains) have revoked the longstanding 50 plus (seniors) discount.
American corporation Lowe's had acquired Rona in 2016. We confirmed with Rona Chateauguay that the "Seniors" ( 50+) offer is indeed discontinued effective immediately.
The discount offer is curiously still visible on the RONA website at this time albeit it's disappearace:
"This offer is valid the first Tuesday of each month at participating stores only. Get 15% off regular priced products if you are aged of 50 years or older. You must show valid picture ID containing your date and year of birth at the register to receive discount. Quantities are limited to 15 for identical products. To take advantage of this offer for an online purchase, the “5015” promotional code must be entered in the “Promotion Code” field of the online shopping cart. Only purchases of in-stock products at regular price paid in cash, debit or credit card or by Paypal are eligible. This offer also applies on products being delivered and/or installed if delivery and/or installation charges are paid in full at time of purchase."
In 2014, over 6 million Canadians were aged 65 or older, representing 15.6 percent of Canada's population. By 2030—in less than two decades—seniors will number over 9.5 million and make up 23 percent of Canadians.
So don't be surprised if your discount is refused at the cash next month...
