Vegpro planning major expansion project





Quebec's largest fresh lettuce and vegetable production company, Vegpro International, based in Sherrington, here in the Montérégie, is expanding its processing and packaging capacity for leafy and ready-to-eat vegetables at its industrial complex which is located here in the heart of our Chateauguay Valley's agricultural region.


The company is run by members of the Van Winden family, who are well known in the market gardening sector in Quebec, plan to invest up to $ 100 million within four or five years.


The first phase of this major expansion project, planned for 55 million, includes the start of a first greenhouse complex with an area of ​​4 hectares (an estimated equivalent of 5.5 football fields).


They hope to launch the first greenhouse of this new endeavor into operation next winter, with an expected production capacity of up to 100,000 pounds of lettuce per week.

Within 2 years, they expect to double their annual lettuce production capacity.


They presently have fields in Quebec and Florida, that allows them to provide their products throughout the year.
