Carmageddon Weekend

So you think that weekday traffic has been tough eh?

Well, hold on to your transit passes cause this may be a painful and long one..

There will be unprecedented road closures in the Turcot interchange from November 9 to 13.

Some estimated forecasts of potential gridlock state a possibility of 8 - 12 kilometers of traffic back up in the area.

Many are choosing to work from home, or take public transport.

These road closures are necessary to dismantle a section of the old autoroute 15, which is a complex operation. The section is located more than 25 metres above the ground and spans the new lanes of autoroute 20 and the CN's main corridor.

As for the Mercier Bridge, well, it's the old welcome to your weekend..Same old closures, one lane stuff as per usual..

In an attempt to reduce congestion, the regional transit authorities are offering:

  • Free shuttle service between the Châteauguay terminus and the Sainte-Catherine train station (exo4 line — Candiac) during rush hours.

  • Bus lines 1 (Haut-Saint-Laurent sector) and 28 (Sud-Ouest sector) are rerouted to the Angrignon metro station. These buses normally go to the Mansfield terminus in Montréal. Users of these bus lines will receive free transit fares for the metro.

Good luck!
